Walk Bike Ride Mt. Shasta Mobility Plan

IMG_5564.jpg

About

The City of Mt. Shasta is preparing a mobility plan called Walk Bike Ride Mt. Shasta and Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance (SORA) is assisting with the public engagement process. Through this effort, the City will develop strategies and ideas for transportation improvements to foster a vibrant, sustainable community with accessible connections between businesses, neighborhoods, schools, and our surrounding natural environment.

How can streets be made safer? How can we make it easier for more people to walk, bike, or ride the bus to get where they need to go? How can our transportation system support local businesses, be resilient to climate change and adapt to changing technology?

We will need your help to create Walk Bike Ride Mt. Shasta.

What you can do:

1) Tell us about challenges and opportunities for travel today

2) Show us how you get around Mt. Shasta and what locations are important to you

3) Join us at upcoming events

4) Contact us to receive notifications about the study and share your ideas about improving transportation options

Visit the Walk Bike Ride Mt. Shasta website for more information on upcoming events and to participate in the survey.

Our Mission

South Siskiyou Swim Team is a competitive/recreational club covering the communities of Weed, Mt. Shasta, Grenada, Dunsmuir and Castella areas. We recognize that swimming is an individual sport, but we choose to compete as a team. Our goal is to promote swimming as a lifelong sport for our children in a family friendly environment. We acknowledge that some children may only swim for recreation. Swimmers who choose to compete will be encouraged to compete in meets when they are ready with the support of their coaches in combination with parents. We will encourage swimmers to set goals and for the parents and coaches to work with our children to achieve these goals. SSST should provide an environment to develop our children’s body, mind and spirit and to enjoy swimming as a sport.

Our Purpose

South Siskiyou Swim Team is a non-profit, non-incorporated organization.  The goal is to promote swimming as life-long sport by:

  • Promoting good sportsmanship

  • Teaching proper technical skills

  • Improving physical fitness and self-confidence

  • Providing a healthy environment to foster friendship

  • Fostering a healthy competitive attitude

  • Learning to set goals, and with discipline and drive achieve these goals

  • Developing leadership skills

  • Promoting a team-oriented learning environment

  • Having fun

  • Engaging children in a constructive activity which may lead to positive choices for a lifetime

The South Siskiyou Swim Team is part of Sierra Nevada Swimming with governing requirements set forth by USA Swimming. They are based out of Southern Siskiyou County, utilizing the pools in Weed and Dunsmuir when possible. Swimmers are comprised of residents all over South Siskiyou County from Castella to Montague.

South Siskiyou Swim team averages between 80 and 100 athletes per season. These athletes represent a combination of pre-team training up to our competitive swimmers, who also serve as junior coaches and lifeguards. Our practices are separated as follows: pre-team (5-7 years old); Age Groups (8-12 years old); and Senior (13-18 years old).
